Benjamin Jiang

Residing in Elk Grove, CA, Benjamin Jiang currently studies cello with Jonathan Koh and has studied piano with Dr. Natsuki Fukusawa. Benjamin’s achievements include winning the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) Senior Strings Competition in the Southwest Division; the American String Teachers Association (ASTA) Solo Competition in the San Francisco and Sacramento branches; the Korean-American Music Supporters’ Association Cello Competition; the Music Teachers’ Association of California’s (MTAC) Memorial Scholarship Program; the Pacific Musical Society Competition; and the Bradshaw & Buono International Competition. Benjamin is a National YoungArts Competition Winner.
Benjamin has been honored to be a featured soloist with the Auburn Symphony, Merced Symphony, and the Sacramento Youth Symphony. He has attended masterclasses with musicians including Anthony Elliott, Oliver Aldort, the Muir Quartet, Alexander Kobrin, Yakov Kasman, Marina Lomazov, Thomas Sauer, Dmitri Vorobiev, and Haewon Song.
In addition to being a solo cellist, Benjamin is an avid chamber and orchestra musician. Benjamin was a member of the National Youth Orchestra 2 (NYO2) and is a member of the San Francisco Symphony Youth Orchestra. He has also attended the Boston University Tanglewood Institute String Quartet program and has attended the Sacramento Great Composers Rising Stars Chamber Music Program since age 9. His piano trio has won the MTAC’s VOCE competition in the Sacramento region. Benjamin is an undergraduate student at Stanford University.
