Popular FAQs

  • Regional presentations can be in-person or virtual and are typically 30-45 minutes long but can be accommodated to the school’s availability and schedule. These presentations have been thoroughly prepared by our talented student musicians and artists and are available for all artistic divisions of the project, which include classical music, visual arts, dance, and creative writing.

    They comprise of three parts: (1) Inspiration: our talented artists showcase their talents through performances, portfolio presentations, and more; (2) Education: our members prepare an informational presentation for students, such as teaching the three steps to mastering a skill; and (3) Interaction: the audience participates in trivia games and Q&A sessions with the members of the Back to BACH Project.

    To invite us for a live presentation, complete the Invite Us form.

  • Membership application happens all year round on an ongoing basis. Apply using the Application Form, and we will get back to you shortly on your application status. You should be notified of your application status within one month of submission. Please do not reach out to us before that time.

  • Complete the Invite Us form, and we will connect you to a region shortly.

  • Our programs are most suitable for elementary school students although we are able to cater our programs for all audiences. Live regional presentations are available for nursery, elementary, and junior high school students who are at beginner to intermediate levels. Soloist Conference Events are variable by event topic and are provided to elementary to high school students who are at intermediate to advanced levels.

  • If you are a prospective member and are interested in launching a region in your area, you are able to indicate this on the Member Application form. If you are a prospective member but are not interested in launching a region, you can choose which region you want to be a part of on the Member Application form and participate in virtual events.

    Educators, in-person regional presentations are not possible if there is no region in your area unfortunately. However, you can sign up for a virtual regional presentation by completing the Invite Us form. On the form, you can specify which region you would like to invite. If you do not have a preference, we will connect you with any available region to present for your children.

  • Virtual regional presentations happen live in a remote format and are presented by one of the 80+ regions of the Back to BACH Project. This program is available for all four artistic divisions of the project. Regions perform or showcase their art, present an educational topic, and interact with the audience through trivia games and a Q&A session.

    Soloist Conference Events are run by the Back to BACH Soloists. Our Soloists are exceptional musicians who have won awards on the international stage. During these events, soloists will perform and also hold a round-table discussion with the audience, allowing for more personal interaction with the soloists. Soloist conference topics can vary; past topics include stage fright management tips, choosing between a university or conservatory, etc.

    Video productions are short videos that cover a breadth of topics, such as an introduction to a composer, an overview of a specific art movement, or a ballet choreography to Vivaldi’s Spring. These videos are posted on our Instagram (@backtochproject), Facebook page, and YouTube channel. Feel free to watch these whenever!

  • You must be a member to become a mentor. Mentors are 11th graders and up. Mature and responsible 10th graders are welcome to apply. The mentor application can be accessed through the members-only portal.

    You must either be a member or be invited to be a soloist by the Back to BACH Project. Prospective Soloists will have access to the Soloist application through the members-only portal.

Membership FAQs

  • All passionate music and arts students can apply! The minimum age to apply is 13, and there is no maximum age as long as you are a student (this includes doctorate and masters students).

  • Membership application happens all year round on an ongoing basis. Apply by completing the Member Application form. You should be notified of your application status within one month of submission. Please do not reach out to us before that time.

  • Members spread inspiration in the arts to young children by participating in live regional presentations (both in-person and virtual) and/or creating video productions. Once you become a member, you will have access to more member-exclusive details.

  • The time commitment is very flexible; it differs for each member because the individual member can do as much as they want as long as they finish at least one event during the school year. Please refer to the members-only portal for more information after you become a member.

  • Initially, you can only apply to be a member unless you are interested in launching your own region. In that case, you would be applying as both a member and regional director. If you are interested in advancing your role, reach out to backtobachproject@gmail.com or use the Contact Us form to receive information about a path to advancement opportunities/leadership roles.

  • Yes, however, only selected regions have regional presentations specifically catered for junior high school students.

Soloist Conference Events FAQs

During these events, Soloists perform and hold an intimate (a round table) discussion with the audience, allowing for more personal interaction with the soloists. Soloist Conference topics can vary; past topics include stage fright management tips, choosing between a university or conservatory, etc.

  • The Soloist Conference Events are variable by event topic and are provided to elementary to high school students who are at intermediate to advanced levels.

  • You will be notified once you complete the Sign Up form, which can be found under the dropdown item Stay Updated of the “Get Involved” tab in the navigation. Also, follow all our socials, which are linked at the bottom of this website. We post all upcoming events and announcements on our platforms.

  • All our partnerships can be found towards the bottom of our homepage. Just to name a few, we’ve partnered with U.S. Presidential Scholars, Curtis Institute of Music, and Baltimore Symphony OrchKids.

  • It all depends on what our partners’ missions are! Past partnerships included Back to BACH Project members performing with students of our partnered organizations, Back to BACH Project mentors providing free private instrumental instruction to others, and much more!
