Soo Lee
C.E.O.
Soo is devoted to bringing together her three greatest loves—children, music, and education. She lives out this passion through her work with the Back to Bach Project, where she is committed to inspiring the next generation to use their talents to serve, lead, and make a difference in the world. With over 30 years of experience teaching cello, including guiding her own children, Soo has witnessed time and again how music can ignite confidence, nurture character, and build bridges across communities—a conviction that lies at the very heart of the Back to Bach mission.
Her leadership has spanned both music and ministry, including roles as Praise Worship Director at Cornerstone Fellowship and Choir Director at Vision Christian Fellowship. She now continues this work as Choir Director at Living Hope Church, where she uses music to uplift and build community. She has also served the wider music world as an examiner for the Certificate Advancement Program of the American String Teachers Association (ASTA) since 2010 and as an adjudicator for the Cello Masterclass, Showcase Competition, and Virtuosi Recital Competition with the National League of Performing Arts.
As the founding Artistic Director of the Heartstrings Cello Ensemble and a member of the Board of Directors of From the Top, the nationally syndicated NPR radio program, Soo continues to champion opportunities for young artists to be seen, heard, and celebrated. She pursued advanced studies at the Manhattan School of Music and Columbia University, training that continues to shape her vision for combining artistic excellence with education and service.
At the heart of all her work, Soo possesses an unwavering commitment to spark in young people the courage to lead, the joy of creating, and the calling to use their gifts to make the world better through music.
